Accenture, Thoughtworks, North East LEP and FSB sponsor Newcastle tech scene

Newcastle’s tech hub, Campus North has added to its list of high-profile sponsors. Already gaining support from the likes of Sage and Virgin Money, new sponsors include Accenture and Thoughtworks.

Campus North was established two years ago as the Ignite accelerator programme and aims to bring companies of all sizes together to collaborate.  Based in the city centre, it runs networking events such as Digital Drinks, and training on subjects such as Python, WordPress, PHP and coding for all ages.

Funded by sponsors and members, Tech North has welcomed 10,000 people through its doors and organised 200 community meet-ups.

Colin Bell, the North East LEP’s director of economic growth praised the organisation’s “fantastic community” that brought together leading and emerging talent within the tech sector.

It was this “cohesive role” in supporting businesses that was one of the main reasons the LEP was keen to “ensure its sustainability and growth”.

Campus North co-founder Lyndsey Britton said: “We’re delighted to welcome our new sponsors; their support is crucial, not just so we can continue and expand what we do but also for the recognition of how vital the tech sector is to the North East and businesses of all kinds.

“We offer our partners the chance to tap into our community, sharing knowledge and developing skills, as well as opportunities to use our fantastic, flexible spaces.”
