Manchester smart home tech firm secures £2m funding

WONDRWALL Ltd has secured a £2m financing package from NatWest to support the tech firm’s business growth aspirations.

The firm has developed an intelligent home solution which automatically controls the heating, lighting and security. The system comprises of hardware and built in software, transforms any home into an intelligent one that can operate on its own while also responding to individual behaviours and living habits.

While other systems on the market can be controlled remotely through mobile phones, the Wondrwall software learns household behavioural trends and can adjust home settings accordingly. This includes lights switching on when the householders wake up and adjusting heating according to occupancy.

Daniel Burton, founder and chief executive of Wondrwall, commented: “Wondrwall began as an energy saving product, tasked with saving the billions being wasted from heating and lighting empty homes.

“During our development cycle the home technology market saw the arrival of a fragmented landscape of devices to control your boiler, lighting, security and more.

“Compounding the problem of requiring multiple devices to improve your home’s efficiency was the issue that they all seemed to lack intelligence, requiring significant user input to operate effectively.

“We knew Wondrwall could be so much more than just an energy saving system, so we extended functionality to include lifestyle personalisation, safety and security features.”

Wondrwall selected NatWest to support its ambitions due to the banks specialist support for businesses in the tech sector.

The funding package includes facilities from partners RBSIF and Lombard. NatWest technology sector relationship manger Matt Mawdesley supported the deal.

Mawdesley concluded: “Wondrwall is a fantastic system that will no doubt change households around the world. Daniel and the team have developed a fantastic product that is both innovative and functional. We welcome our new relationship with Wondrwall and look forward to working with the team in the future as the business goes from strength to strength.”
