York mobile comms provider connecting UK media during US elections

York-based specialist global service provider, Cellhire, is set to connect British media operators to the presidential election and House of Representatives and Senate elections in the US.

Cellhire will provide hundreds of 3G and 4G voice/video and data connections to national newspapers, public and commercial TV and radio broadcasters, covering the presidential election on November 8th.

The connections will be made via Cellhire’s SIM cards, smartphones, MiFi devices (portable, wireless routers) and other telecoms services.

The company has track record, and has provided thousands of connections during FIFA World Cups, Olympics and Paralympics, UEFA Euro Finals and the Cannes Film Festival.

Matt Bennett, Cellhire’s managing director, commented: “Our equipment and services will be used across the US at election hot spots up to, during and after the results, including the victory speech by the president-elect.

“They will ensure that British media have reliable voice, video and data communications links to the UK and elsewhere, enabling them to file their reports whenever they wish, including during live broadcasts, 24/7.“

Matt concluded: “Cellhire is pleased to be the provider of technical product and expertise to help media reporting of three crucial elections in the United States on the same day.

“It’s not a major technical challenge for us because of the experience we have gained in supplying equipment and working smoothly with 3G and 4G network providers at major events around the world.“
