Data centre operator iomart has taken a significant step towards sustainability by installing 560 solar panels at its flagship facility in Maidenhead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new solar array, completed in May by 3ti, is expected to generate approximately 250,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, resulting in a reduction of carbon emissions by 96,061 kilograms annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Maidenhead data centre, iomart’s largest, houses over 12,000 servers. The investment in solar power aligns with the company’s broader commitment to environmental responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
David Gammie, chief technology officer at iomart, commented: \u201cWe have a large portfolio of data centres across the UK, and making sure they\u2019re as sustainable as possible is one of our biggest focuses at iomart. We\u2019ve already committed to powering all our data centres with 100 per cent renewable energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
