ETL Systems expands satellite software capability with Amphinicy acquisition

Hereford-based ETL Systems has acquired satellite software specialist Amphinicy Technologies, expanding its portfolio beyond RF hardware into software for satellite communications and Earth observation.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Amphinicy Technologies develops ground segment software used across the satellite industry, including its Monica monitoring and control platform and Blink software modem. The company operates from offices in Croatia and Luxembourg and has more than 25 years’ experience supplying the global space sector.

ETL Systems designs and manufactures radio frequency (RF) distribution equipment used by satellite operators, broadcasters, defence organisations and telecommunications providers. The company supplies equipment to customers in more than 130 countries and, following a series of acquisitions, now provides products spanning the ground-based RF chain from antenna to modem.

The acquisition broadens ETL’s offering into software, creating opportunities across satellite communications, Earth observation, 5G non-terrestrial networks, defence and critical communications.

Amphinicy’s software portfolio includes Monica, a monitoring and control system, and Blink, a wideband software modem used by organisations operating in the Earth observation and satellite communications sectors.

The business will continue to operate independently within the ETL Systems group, including the ongoing development of ViSAGE, its 5G non-terrestrial network Gateway-as-a-Service platform.

Earlier this year, ETL Systems strengthened its North American presence with the acquisition of Canadian satellite communications manufacturer IRT Technologies, adding high-power amplifier technology to its portfolio. The Amphinicy deal continues the company’s strategy of expanding its capabilities across satellite communications through targeted acquisitions.
