CyberNorth and FTSE 100 firm Sage have announced a new partnership aimed at significantly enhancing the North East’s cyber security capabilities. The collaboration will focus on stimulating growth and innovation within the region’s cyber sector, including plans for a dedicated North East Innovation Zone.
Danielle Phillips, CEO at CyberNorth, commented: “The North East has a stellar roll call of companies blazing a trail across the cyber security landscape, however there is still further potential which remains untapped. This partnership with Sage really is a pivotal moment for CyberNorth and the cyber security community as a whole in the region.”
Sage, which specialises in accounting, financial, HR, and payroll technology for small and medium-sized businesses, has its global headquarters in Newcastle.
Mads Howard, manager in the CEO office at Sage, added: “Sage is proud to work with CyberNorth and support its ambitions to showcase the North East as a Global Innovation Hub. The North East has a rich heritage of innovation, by investing in our local ecosystem we are helping to build a strong, more resilient digital economy for the future.”
CyberNorth has previously supported 100 businesses and over 2,000 professionals in the region, collaborating with sectors such as FinTech, Space, Maritime, and Defence. The North East benefits from being the only area outside London with two NCSC Centres of Excellence in Cyber Security Research, located at Northumbria University and Newcastle University.
Danielle Phillips concluded: “This exciting partnership paves the way to further bolster our presence, and collaborative charge on a regional, national and international platform. We look forward to seizing all the exciting new opportunities this partnership will bring to the table.”
