Two technology companies based in Leeds have partnered to assist organisations in strengthening their cyber defences ahead of new UK legislation due to come into force this year, and following a record year of cyberattacks.
Digital consultancy Axiologik and cybersecurity specialist Precursor Security reported a rise in demand for their services throughout 2025 following a high number of prominent cyberattacks. Axiologik recorded a 600% increase in consulting work compared to the previous year, while Precursor Security reported a 50% rise in revenue over the same period.
In response to this demand, the firms have introduced a joint risk and resilience assessment service. The service is designed to identify major cyber risks, prioritise necessary actions, and evaluate the ability of an organisation to recover from significant security incidents.
The assessment, named AxioSECURE, integrates strategic and technical analysis with security testing to review risks related to personnel, processes, and technology. This includes the evaluation of risks associated with suppliers and third-party software.
The partnership comes as the UK government progresses the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill through Parliament, with the legislation expected to take effect in 2026. The bill will introduce mandatory security requirements for organisations within sectors critical to the economy and public services, such as healthcare, transport, and utilities. Once the legislation is enacted, these organisations will be required by law to demonstrate their risk management and resilience capabilities.
The new assessment process typically lasts between four and six weeks. It involves mapping external attack surfaces, reviewing internal controls, and using threat intelligence to prepare for specific cyber scenarios. The service also provides action plans for risk reduction and includes rehearsals for responding to real-world incidents.
Ben Davison, co-founder and director of Axiologik, said: “The cybersecurity landscape is complex and constantly evolving. Our assessment tools are designed to cut through that and give organisations clear, practical insights into where they are exposed and what they need to do next. Last year’s high-profile attacks have shown that even organisations who have already invested heavily in cyber security can be caught out, particularly where they have failed to fully consider third-party breaches, which are one of the biggest overlooked risks.
“There are very few assessments that combine deep technical cyber expertise with the strategic perspectives needed to assess risk holistically across today’s modern, complex enterprises. In partnering with Precursor we believe we’re offering something genuinely different – support that helps organisations not just understand their risk, but actually take action. Incoming legislation is going to make cyber resilience a legal requirement for many organisations, but it should be deemed essential work for every organisation, regardless of whether they fall within the scope of the new bill.”
