LogChain, a global technology firm, is moving its head office from Singapore to Liverpool. The company announced it intends to create new jobs and invest up to £4 million in the region over the next three years.
The business provides legally recognised, secure digital documentation designed to replace paper-heavy shipping processes. According to the firm, this technology increases shipment speeds, reduces costs and improves supply chain efficiency. In 2023, the company assisted in the delivery of the first fully digitalised shipment of goods, which travelled from Burnley to Singapore without the use of physical customs documents.
“The UK’s long-standing leadership in global trade is now reinforced by the legal foundations needed for the next era of digital commerce” explained LogChain CEO, Andie McKeown.
LogChain has already executed the world’s first fully digitalised movement of goods, and by relocating our global headquarters to the UK we’re committing to scale trusted, interoperable digital trade infrastructure from a market that is setting the benchmark.
Business and Trade Secretary Peter Kyle stated: “LogChain’s decision to set up shop in Liverpool is a clear vote of confidence in the UK and the North West as we build the most innovative trading environment in the world. This move strengthens our tech ecosystem, boosts future exports, and shows the UK is the place to be for cutting-edge digital trade.”
Government data suggests that a recent trade digitalisation pilot involving the UK, Singapore and Thailand reduced shipping times by up to 40 per cent and resulted in productivity increases of up to 67 per cent. Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, added: “Moves like this help bring good jobs to the region and strengthen our links with the rest of the world.”
