The deadline for submissions for the Big Chip Awards until 5pm<\/span><\/span> on Monday 20th March<\/span><\/span> to\u00a0enter.<\/p>\n

The Big Chip awards have celebrated excellence in digital and technology companies, organisations and individuals across the region for almost two decades – in areas including animation,
\nsearch, user experience, eCommerce and digital transformation.<\/p>\n

Businesses, individuals and students from the Scottish borders all the\u00a0way down to Derbyshire are eligible to enter the popular awards –\u00a0whether they are a digital or technology company, studying a related\u00a0course at university, a freelancer, or an organisation from another\u00a0sector that has undertaken excellent digital work over the past year.<\/p>\n

Chair of the Big Chip steering group Shaun Fenson said: “Over its 19\u00a0years Big Chip has always been about celebrating the best in digital and
\ntech from the North – from both big businesses and small. That’s why we\u00a0make the first two entries free of charge. We know this is a very a busy
\nperiod for many so we’re giving this extra time to make sure everyone\u00a0has a chance to enter.”<\/p>\n

Lawrence Jones MBE, CEO of headline sponsor UKFast, said “The North is\u00a0alive with digital and technological innovation and the Big Chip awards\u00a0are the perfect platform to celebrate this. The awards are an incredible\u00a0opportunity to demonstrate exactly why the region is having such a\u00a0massive impact across the industry.”<\/p>\n

Entrants have the chance to triumph in 22 awards in total, including\u00a0three new categories: Big Chip Transformation Award, Big Chip IoT Impact\u00a0Award and the Big Chip Leadership Award. The Anthony Wilson award, in\u00a0honour of the late Tony Wilson, and the Grand Prix award, awarded to the\u00a0best overall entry, will be chosen from shortlisted entries.<\/p>\n

This year, the Big Chips have also welcomed BCS: The Chartered Institute\u00a0for IT as awards partner. Deputy president, Paul Martynenko, said “BCS\u00a0are delighted to be partnering with the 2017 Big Chip Awards. The\u00a0calibre of businesses and individuals here in the North is exceptional\u00a0and we’re pleased to be part of the celebration”<\/p>\n

The shortlist will be announced on 27th April 2017<\/span><\/span>, with the Big Chip\u00a0Awards dinner taking place at Manchester’s Hilton Hotel on 15th June
\n2017.<\/p>\n

Entries can be submitted online at www.bigchipawards.com<\/a>. The first\u00a0two entries are free. Subsequent entries then cost \u00a395.<\/p>\n
