North\u00a0Tyneside software\u00a0company, Infotel UK Consulting, is planning to double in size after investing \u00a31m in new offices and recruitment.<\/p>\n
Infotel develops custom-made software and applications for commercial clients such as Nissan\u00a0and Virgin Money, and the\u00a0tech firm currently employs around 40 people. Following its \u00a31m investment, the company plans to double its headcount over the next two years and is looking to establish an innovation lab at its new offices in Longbenton.<\/p>\n
Mundeep Nayyar, managing director of Infotel UK said: \u201cThe technology sector in\u00a0Newcastle\u00a0upon Tyne is estimated to be worth almost \u00a31bn and growing more than twice as fast as the rest of the economy.\u00a0With access to leading blue-chip businesses that need Infotel UK\u2019s services and nearly 25,000 students in higher education, the city is the ideal location to find and cultivate new talent and to grow a high-tech software business.\u00a0It\u2019s a perfect storm for investment as we look to offer more and better solutions to our clients while maintaining our dedication to quality customer service and delivery.\u201d<\/p>\n
Infotel will also invest in growing its expertise in emerging technologies such as Block Chain, artificial intelligence, and big data.\u00a0The investment has been supported by a six-figure funding package from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking. The money has allowed Infotel to move its operations from Orion Business Park to its new offices at Balliol Business Park,\u00a0in Longbenton,\u00a0where it will establish a new innovation lab and collaboration space.<\/p>\n
The new office was officially opened at a ribbon cutting ceremony that was attended by Infotel\u2019s founder, plus representatives\u00a0from North Tyneside Council\u00a0and the Department for International Trade (DIT).<\/p>\n
Graham Stuart, Minister for Investment at the DIT, said: \u201cWith a wealth of investment opportunities across the UK and a growing economy, it\u2019s no surprise that we are Europe\u2019s number one destination for foreign direct investment.\u00a0Newcastle is currently home to 25,000 students in higher education, and Infotel\u2019s investment is further proof that the city – part of\u00a0the Northern Powerhouse\u00a0– is the ideal location in Europe to find and cultivate new talent and grow a high-tech software business.\u00a0Utilising a network spread across more than 100 countries to scope out opportunities for British businesses, my international economic department is the focal point for Government to attract global investment, providing jobs and prosperity across all regions and nations of the UK.\u201d<\/p>\n
