{"id":1517,"date":"2019-03-01T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-03-01T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.techsparx.co.uk\/north\/uncategorized\/100-new-apprentice-roles-grabs-ukfast\/"},"modified":"2025-02-28T14:38:25","modified_gmt":"2025-02-28T14:38:25","slug":"100-new-apprentice-roles-grabs-ukfast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.techsparx.co.uk\/north\/100-new-apprentice-roles-grabs-ukfast\/","title":{"rendered":"100 new apprentice roles up for grabs with UKFast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The scheme will meet the growing need for programmers and software developers in the region<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-12427\" src=\"https:\/\/www.techsparx.co.uk\/north\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/startup-3127285_960_720-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"startup-3127285_960_720\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Manchester tech firm UKFast is creating 100 new apprenticeship roles within its IT, software development and customer service programmes, in a bid to supercharge the region\u2019s tech talent pool.<\/p>\n<p>The firm\u2019s award-winning scheme has seen more than 80 apprentices graduate in the last three years, with 18 per cent of the company\u2019s workforce being current or former apprentices.<\/p>\n<p>Four full-time teachers are employed to run the programme, alongside an extensive continuous professional development schedule for the firm\u2019s 350-strong team.<\/p>\n<p>UKFast founder and CEO Lawrence Jones MBE\u00a0said about scaling the apprenticeship programme to meet the growing need for programmers and software developers, both within his business and within the wider tech community:\u00a0\u201cOur apprentices develop at an amazing rate and they\u2019re truly invaluable to our workforce. We\u2019re always looking for amazing candidates for our apprenticeships and this year we have the capacity to take on up to 100.\u00a0The skills gap is probably the biggest barrier to continued growth across the tech sector, which is why it makes perfect sense to give young people the opportunity to get hands on with cutting-edge technology as soon as they finish their GCSEs or A Levels.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>UKFast last year joined the government\u2019s Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers (RoATP), enabling it to train apprentices of behalf of other businesses.
