Kromek, the Newcastle-based radiation and bio-technology development company, has received a new biosecurity award from the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), along with other orders in the CBRN Detection segment worth a total of \u00a3860,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company has been awarded a contract from the UK MoD\u2019s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory to develop new methods for enhancing the detection of biological agents and incidents. Kromek has been awarded \u00a3250,000 for the 18-month project, which is being funded through the UK Government\u2019s Defence and Security Accelerator. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This new contract complements Kromek\u2019s existing multi-year agreements for the development of biological-threat detection systems with a UK Government department and the US Department of Homeland Security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The listed firm has also received several orders from global customers in the nuclear security segment. This includes an order totalling $470,000 (\u00a3349,210) for its D5 detectors under a pre-existing Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract. This contract was originally announced in April 2024, and to date, the group has received orders of $1.9 million (\u00a31.41 million), with up to $1.0 million (\u00a3743,000) remaining to be ordered before the programme\u2019s expiry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The business has also received three orders, totalling \u00a3252,000, for its D3M detectors from distributors for end customers in Japan, Canada, and Bulgaria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
