Daresbury-headquartered alternative network operator ITS Technology Group has activated its full fibre network in nine towns and cities across the UK as part of its ongoing infrastructure expansion.
The business confirmed that services are live for business customers in Aberdeen, Bath, Bournemouth, Chester, Coventry, Huddersfield, Loughborough, Plymouth and Swansea. Further network activations in Cardiff, Edinburgh, Exeter and Southampton are planned by the end of the year.
The expansion forms part of an investment strategy announced in June 2026 targeting high-density commercial areas. The network uses XGS-PON technology capable of delivering symmetrical broadband and Ethernet connections.
The activation follows funding arrangements secured by the group to extend its national footprint and support the operator’s plan to expand its XGS-PON network past 465,000 commercial premises across the UK.
Dave Ferry, Chief Sales Officer at ITS, said: “Bringing these locations live is about turning footprint into opportunity for our channel partners. They can now take business-grade connectivity into more towns and cities, and use it as the access layer for the wider services their customers need.
“We are seeing the market move beyond a simple broadband or Ethernet decision. More businesses want premium connectivity options such as Ethernet-over-FTTP, multiple services into the same site, or managed bundles that bring resilience, security and performance together in a way that fits how they operate.
“This is where the channel creates real value. Our role is to make sure partners have the network, product choice and service experience behind them, so they can compete with stronger propositions in the places their customers need them to be.”
ITS has not disclosed the total expenditure or the specific number of premises passed in this phase of the rollout. The provider operates an open-access wholesale model and supplements its proprietary infrastructure with national operator networks including BT Wholesale, Sky, PXC and Virgin Media Business.
