Cybersecurity firm ThreatSpike has appointed Katie Newton, former Global Head of Sales at Darktrace, as an investor and advisor.

Newton joins the London-based company following its £10.4 million Series A funding round, which came after a decade of bootstrapping. She will work closely with ThreatSpike’s go-to-market teams to support the firm’s international growth and market reach.

Newton brings over ten years of experience in the sector, including four years leading Darktrace’s global sales function. During her time there, she oversaw the company’s expansion into over 100 countries and its transition to a publicly listed firm valued at $5 billion.

Her work focused on building sales operations, opening new markets and scaling commercial teams, which aligns with ThreatSpike’s current growth phase.

“It’s a huge win to have Katie with us,” said Adam Blake, ThreatSpike CEO. “Having taken a cyber startup from practically zero revenue to one of the most recognised names in cybersecurity, she’s the perfect match for helping bring our ambitions to life.

“Our funding round, combined with our recent customer wins, have sent a signal that our messaging is resonating with businesses. They want a return to simplicity and cost transparency in the tech platforms they’re buying. Katie’s decision to join us validates this mission tremendously, and her journey at Darktrace is the blueprint for the kind of growth ThreatSpike is targeting.”

Founded in 2011 by computer scientists Adam and Kate Blake, ThreatSpike has developed an all-in-one cybersecurity platform that brings together endpoint, network, email, and cloud detection, incident response, and unlimited red-teaming.

Since December 2024, the company has doubled its team to around 50 people. It has also opened a new office in Mayfair, London, and added senior figures to its board, including Darktrace co-founder Emily Orton.

“What drew me to ThreatSpike is their fearlessness in shaking up the old cybersecurity playbook,” said Newton. “They are relentless in their focus on delivering real value to customers, without the complexity and hidden costs that plague traditional cybersecurity and IT offerings.

“It’s hitting the reset switch on what cybersecurity and IT should look like: simple and outcome-focused. I’m looking forward to helping the team scale that vision globally.”
