Corero Network Security, which is headquartered in London, with a USA base in Marlborough, Massachusetts, has announced that its SmartWall ONE software will now support commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware.
This change is intended to reduce capital costs and eliminate import delays for customers. It also gives them more flexibility to align with regional requirements or internal infrastructure strategies.
The company stated that this capability is particularly useful in regions where import duties and strict logistics have increased the cost of hardware-based cybersecurity solutions.
Carl Herberger, CEO of Corero, commented: “This is not just about reducing costs. It’s about giving customers the flexibility to deploy our protection technology in ways that align with their business, regulatory, or operational needs. By decoupling our software from proprietary hardware, we are accelerating time to value and removing the roadblocks that have traditionally slowed security deployments in global markets.”
In addition to upfront savings, the ability to use local COTS hardware brings long-term benefits as the move also provides long-term benefits, such as reduced maintenance complexity and a wider choice of vendors. The company is finalising certified configurations with leading server vendors to ensure performance. This “software-first” model is expected to enhance scalability, expand the company’s market, and support margin growth.
