Exertis Enterprise, a Basingstoke specialist in enterprise IT delivering expert storage, server, data, cloud and cybersecurity services, has announced it is rebranding to its original name, Hammer Distribution, marking a return to its independent brand identity and closing a chapter under the Exertis banner.

The company had been trading as Exertis Enterprise since 2018, while operating independently within the wider Exertis group of companies. Following the sale of Exertis’s sister companies and a global restructure, Hammer has taken the opportunity to reassert the brand that it believes better reflects its ethos and reputation.

Jason Chibnall, Managing Director, said: “It’s been an honour to be part of a global brand that the industry recognises, but with that recognition came assumptions — that we operated and delivered in exactly the same way as Exertis UK. The reality is that Hammer has always done things differently: our methods, our ethos, and above all our people-powered approach. Time and again we found ourselves explaining who we were not, until the words ‘we are Hammer’ immediately transformed perception. Today we are making that truth official once again.”

Hammer continues to operate as an enterprise components distributor across Europe, offering products in storage, networking, CPUs, and GPUs. Its focus remains on its technical sales personnel and vendor partnerships to deliver solutions for customers and partners.

Since the last time the Hammer name was in use, the company has grown in several areas:

  • Expanded portfolio: Now includes power protection, datacentre connectivity, a dedicated Cyber Security Team, and a Cloud platform offering modern workplace tools, infrastructure and cyber-as-a-service.
  • Networking division: A specialist unit supporting telecoms, public connectivity, and datacentre infrastructure aligned to AI workloads.
  • Geographic growth: From UK-focused to six additional European trading offices.
  • Infrastructure investment: Introduction of a European warehouse to reduce cross-border costs and a production facility delivering complete datacentre solutions.

These developments support Hammer’s continued response to infrastructure demand driven by cloud computing, AI, and cybersecurity requirements. Looking ahead, the business plans to continue investing in commercial and sales teams to deliver on infrastructure demands across the market.

“This isn’t about nostalgia — it’s about clarity,” added Chibnall. “Hammer has always stood for people, expertise, and outcomes that make the difference. By returning to the Hammer name, we are bringing that clarity back to the market and signalling our commitment to powering the future of enterprise IT.”
