Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Suffolk and Essex are significantly increasing their digital security through a new programme called Cyber Innovate to Elevate (CItE). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Run by Freeport East in partnership with the University of Essex, the initiative offers academic expertise and hands-on support to help local organisations reduce their vulnerability to cyber threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since its launch, the programme has received over 150 expressions of interest\u2014nearly three times its original target. Eight fully-funded consultancy projects have already been awarded, with participants ranging from manufacturers and education providers to high-hazard chemical suppliers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CItE initiative addresses a critical gap for SMEs that often face limited resources and rising compliance requirements. Many involved businesses are preparing for strict regulatory requirements or large-scale client standards, such as those required by Sizewell C. To join these major supply chains, small businesses must demonstrate appropriate cybersecurity certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
