Health technology company with Birmingham clinic secures £520m funding
Health technology company Neko Health, which opened a clinic in Birmingham earlier this year, has raised around £520m ($700m) in Series C funding to support international expansion and further development of its preventative healthcare platform.
The investment round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and co-led by O.G. Venture Partners. The funding will be used to support Neko Health’s expansion into the US and continue developing its diagnostic technology.
Founded by Daniel Ek and Hjalmar Nilsonne, Neko Health develops technology that combines proprietary scanning hardware, software and blood analysis to help identify potential health issues before symptoms develop. The company designs its hardware and software in-house, with customers receiving a clinician-reviewed assessment following a 60-minute health scan.
Neko opened its Birmingham clinic in February 2026 as part of its UK expansion, adding to sites in London and Manchester. The company said it selected Birmingham because of the city’s growing reputation for healthcare innovation and technology.
The latest funding round attracted backing from investors including Steven Bartlett, Claudia Schiffer, Maria Sharapova, Mark Zuckerberg and will.i.am.
The company’s £299 health assessment uses proprietary sensors and blood analysis to collect millions of health data points, measuring areas including skin health, blood markers, metabolic health and indicators linked to conditions such as heart disease and stroke.
The latest version of the health scan also incorporates body composition analysis and wearable health data, allowing users to track changes between appointments.
Hjalmar Nilsonne, co-founder and chief executive of Neko Health, said: “This funding is a strong vote of confidence in what we set out to do when we opened our first clinic three years ago: a completely new healthcare experience designed to keep people healthy, catch problems early and help prevent disease before it even starts. With this round, we’re taking that mission to the US for the first time, while continuing to invest in the research and technology that make prevention possible at scale. The clearest proof is in our members: the vast majority of our members return after their first scan, and when they do, their health markers move in the right direction.”
Neko said more than 350,000 people have joined its waiting list or registered for a scan, while more than 100,000 people in the UK and Sweden have completed assessments. The company said 75% of returning customers who had previously been identified with serious health conditions are now either in good health or have their condition under control.
Bejul Somaia, Global Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners, said: “Over the past eighteen months, Neko Health has demonstrated remarkable innovation and growth, attacking one of the largest markets in the world with breakthrough technology, proven consumer demand, and a clear path to global scale. We believe this is one of the most important healthcare companies of our generation, and we’re proud to deepen our partnership as they continue to reimagine prevention.”
