Agilisys, a digital services and artificial intelligence software firm established in 1998, has moved its head office to Wigan. The company employs more than 300 specialists and focuses on assisting local government organisations with modernising operations and improving service delivery for residents. After operating from the capital for nearly 30 years, the firm has selected the repurposed Civic building in the town centre as its new primary base.
The firm has maintained a presence in the borough for 10 years, providing IT services to ensure local authority operations continue without disruption. Its work involves helping councils use data for insights and implementing digital programmes. Recent software developments by the company have aimed to reduce administrative burdens and streamline processes for staff and partners. The company has supported millions of residents and reports that its software has helped UK councils save more than £10,000,000.
Agilisys CEO, Nigel Muirhead, said: “We have a long-standing presence in Wigan, Greater Manchester and the north west, and we see this as one of the most innovative regions in the country to be located in, with access to great people and ambitious public sector organisations like Wigan that want to truly transform how they deliver services.”
Founder of Agilisys, Charles Mindenhall, added: “With digital and AI technologies helping to transform services, it’s an incredibly exciting time for the council and Agilisys, and we’re really looking forward to continuing our great work in this impressively repurposed Civic building. This move will help us continue to grow and deliver for residents not just in Wigan Borough, but across the country as well.”
Councillor Nazia Rehman, portfolio holder for Finance, Resources, and Transformation, concluded: “As Wigan Council is looking to be at the forefront of advances in digital and AI technologies, the relocation of Agilisys is a game-changing moment as it highlights the type of innovative and forward-thinking companies that want to come and work here.
