Pocklington-based public sector IT supplier Phoenix Software has completed a series of interactive technology and careers sessions for school and college students in Hull. The workshops aimed to introduce Year 9 and Year 12 pupils to careers in the technology sector while delivering practical training in artificial intelligence (AI) and hardware maintenance.
On 1 July, representatives from Phoenix Software visited Kelvin Hall School to deliver a Careers in Technology Work Safari to Year 9 Computer Science pupils. Attendees participated in hands-on laptop repairs, tested Microsoft Copilot AI tools, and listened to presentations from recent technical and sales apprentices.
A second event took place on 9 July, when Year 12 students from Wyke College attended a Girls in Technology Work Experience Day at Phoenix Software’s headquarters in Pocklington. The pupils, who had previously taken part in Humberside Police’s Operation Lifestyle Challenge youth programme, toured the facilities, built CVs using AI software, and received insights from Beverley-based partner firm Purify. Phoenix Software provided funding for participant transport and lunches.
According to survey data collected by the company following the Kelvin Hall session, feedback averaged 4.89 out of 5, with all respondents agreeing the careers presentations were informative. Over half of the participants stated they would now consider a career in the technology sector.

Our aim is to show that there are multiple pathways into the sector and that skills such as creativity, communication, problem-solving and teamwork are just as important as technical expertise. By working with local schools and colleges we’re helping students understand the opportunities available on their doorstep and inspiring the next generation of digital talent.”

The firm stated that its wider social outreach initiative engaged 8,897 students across the UK during the last academic year, with further events scheduled in Scottish schools and colleges later this year.
In July 2026, Phoenix Software completed a corporate restructuring within parent business Bytes Technology Group to operate exclusively as a public sector IT specialist. This strategic realignment is directly relevant to its education outreach, as schools, further education colleges, and emergency services such as Humberside Police now sit within the company’s dedicated public service customer verticals.
