Pektron profits rise despite sales decline
Derbyshire electronics manufacturer Pektron reported higher profits in 2025 despite a decline in turnover as lower administrative costs helped offset weaker sales.
The company, which supplies electronic components and systems for demanding operating environments, recorded turnover of £36m for the year, down from £40.8m in 2024.
Pre-tax profit increased by 48.1 per cent to £279,000, compared with £188,000 a year earlier.
In its annual accounts, Pektron said the reduction in turnover had been expected as economic conditions continued to affect demand.
The directors said: “Turnover has decreased in line with expectations, as an overall decrease was anticipated following the economic pressures within the economy. Administrative expenses have fell by a higher rate which has led to a higher profit being made in the year.”
Founded in Derbyshire, Pektron designs and manufactures electronic systems for sectors including automotive, transport and industrial applications. The business is known for vehicle electronics and also provides engineering and aviation consultancy services.
The company has also expanded its plastics injection moulding operation in Derby, doubling the size of the facility over the past decade. The site now houses 10 ENGEL injection moulding machines and supports the design, development and production of plastic enclosures used in demanding engineering applications.
Despite the decline in revenue, the company said it continues to pursue new contracts and is targeting growth in both turnover and profitability.
The directors added: “The business continues to search out and win new business in all areas, and growth in all key performance indicators, including turnover and net profits, is targeted for the coming years.”
While noting continued economic uncertainty, the company said its wider group maintains a strong cash position and has no external debt.
