Solid State secures $5.2m follow-on contract for IoT technology

Electronics manufacturer Solid State plc, based in Redditch, Worcestershire, has secured a follow-on contract worth $5.2 million from a US-based client for its Internet of Things (IoT) technology product. The company initially supplied the solution in May 2024.
The technology supports smart vending machine operations, providing features such as automated billing and inventory tracking. It integrates industrial-grade hardware with cloud-based digital services.
The contract will be fulfilled by Solid State’s Components division, Solsta. Deliveries are due to begin in the second quarter of the 2025/26 financial year and are expected to continue into the third quarter of 2026/27.
The name of the US client has not been disclosed.
Jon Baxter, executive director of sales and operations EMEA at Solsta, said:
“This follow-on contract highlights the benefits of our combined specialist hardware and software capabilities alongside our international footprint and is an excellent illustration of what Solsta does so well. We see this as a strong validation of our offering and hope to build further on the relationship we’ve established.”
Solsta is the new name for Solid State Supplies Ltd (part of Solid State plc). The products Solsta sells include those for embedded processing, control and communications (both wireless and wired), sensing and switching, power management, optoelectronics and display from globally recognised manufacturers.
