Computer equipment manufacturer Atamate Limited has entered voluntary liquidation after reporting more than £5 million in short-term liabilities, resulting in two redundancies.
Liquidators from Xeinadin Corporate Recovery Limited were appointed on 23 July, following a resolution by the Oxford-based business to wind up voluntarily. Accounts filed for the year ending 31 December 2025 recorded £5,110,665 in creditors falling due within one year.
Although registered in Cardiff, the company operated mainly from Headington in Oxford. Its official classification on Companies House covers the manufacture of computers and peripheral equipment, alongside software development and trade in building materials.
While filed accounts showed 19 employees, founder Joe Miles confirmed that two staff members lost their jobs as part of the winding-up process: “Regrettably, this restructuring process will result in the loss of two roles. We are actively supporting the affected individuals during this transition.”
Miles explained that the liquidation follows commercial setbacks, but stated that business activities are being transferred to another entity, Atamate Solutions Ltd.
Addressing the liabilities listed in the accounts, Miles stated that the vast majority of the sum is internal funding provided by the founders rather than money owed to commercial creditors: “Regarding the £5 million reported, over 95 per cent of this figure represents historic investment and capital contributed directly by the company’s founders to develop our core technology, rather than outstanding debts owed to external suppliers or third parties.”
Atamate produces hardware and software for building management systems, which are computer-based networks designed to control and monitor services such as heating, lighting, and plumbing.
Prior to the liquidation, the company worked with government-backed innovation body Energy Systems Catapult on a project to assess market demand for its wireless building control hardware and seek recognition under the UK government’s Standard Assessment Procedure for housing energy performance. The work is relevant to current developments as it illustrates the company’s commercial push to embed its hardware and control software into national energy standards ahead of its recent corporate restructuring.
