Electric vehicle charging network InstaVolt has renewed its partnership with mapping platform Zapmap, enabling drivers to pay for charging sessions directly through the app.
The agreement covers InstaVolt’s network of more than 2,500 rapid and ultra-rapid chargers across almost 900 locations nationwide, integrating them into the 80,000 chargers across over 50 networks hosted on the Zapmap platform.
Headquartered in Hampshire, InstaVolt primarily installs infrastructure at retail and hospitality venues including McDonald’s, Costa Coffee and Booths, as well as along key transport arteries such as motorway service areas.
Delvin Lane, chief executive of InstaVolt, said: “Our focus has always been on giving drivers confidence in public charging, knowing they can find a reliable charger when they need one and get back on the road quickly. Adding Zapmap as another way to pay across our network gives drivers even more choice, making it easier to access reliable, high-powered charging wherever their journey takes them. Zapmap has been part of the EV journey for many years, as have we, so it’s great to build on our long-standing partnership.
“As more people make the switch to electric, collaborations like this make the charging experience simpler and give drivers greater freedom to travel wherever they need to go.”
Melanie Shufflebotham, co-founder and chief operating officer of Zapmap, added: “As one of the pioneers in the sector, InstaVolt has developed an excellent, reliable network of Rapid and Ultra-rapid chargers right across the country. We are delighted to build on our well-established relationship with InstaVolt, enabling Zapmap users not only to discover InstaVolt chargers, view live availability status, pricing and community feedback but also now giving them the option to pay via the app or charging card.
“Our goal is to give EV drivers confidence to use the charging network when they are out and about and this partnership is a great result for both current and future EV drivers.”
The software integration arrives following major financial commitments by the operator to fund its national network expansion. Corporate disclosures confirm that InstaVolt recently secured a £250m debt facility backed by a consortium of commercial lenders to accelerate site rollout and support technical infrastructure upgrades across the UK.
