Battery industry event to focus on commercial deployment and supply chains
Battery developers, manufacturers, researchers and investors are set to gather in Leicester later this month for a national event focused on the future deployment of battery technologies across multiple industries.
The third Cross-Sector Battery Showcase, organised by Innovate UK Business Connect’s Cross-Sector Battery Systems Innovation Network, will take place at De Montfort University on 18 June.
The event will bring together organisations from across the battery ecosystem, including supply chain companies, manufacturers, end-users and investors, to discuss how battery technologies can be scaled across sectors.
Batteries have been identified as a priority area within the UK Government’s Advanced Manufacturing Plan, while the Clean Power 2030 mission is expected to increase demand for electrification, energy storage and flexible energy systems.
Organisers said the UK has developed strong battery research and innovation capabilities, with the next challenge focused on manufacturing scale-up, commercial adoption and strengthening domestic supply chains.
The showcase will examine how sectors including energy, aerospace and defence can deploy battery systems in operational environments. Discussions will also focus on technology readiness, collaboration opportunities and approaches to building more resilient supply chains.
Alongside industry-led presentations and networking opportunities, the event will explore funding and investment support available to businesses operating across the battery sector, including opportunities linked to the Battery Innovation Programme and wider Innovate UK activities.
