Equans UK & Ireland has acquired Rotherham-headquartered highways technology and communications infrastructure specialist Notul Ltd, which trades as Mway Comms.
The business has joined Equans’ Digital & Energy Services Division. Founded in 2001, Mway Comms installs and maintains technology and communications assets across the UK’s strategic road network. Under the management of Stephen Crawford and Lee Day since 2017, the company has developed into a major contractor for National Highways across multiple procurement frameworks.
Mway Comms employs 100 people and generates annual revenue of £26 million. North East-based Equans, a division of the Bouygues Group, stated that the acquisition will expand its transport infrastructure capabilities across the UK.

The acquisition reflects ongoing consolidation across the UK transport and civil engineering sector, where corporate buyers are acquiring regional infrastructure specialists to secure long-term framework agreements with public bodies.
