Artificial intelligence infrastructure and systems business Invent Group has established its new headquarters at Belmont Business Park in Durham.
The firm was founded by commercial strategist Malcolm Brechin and technologist Sam Whisker, who serve as chief executive and chief technology officer respectively. Creative director Richard Lowes has joined the executive team as chief strategy officer.
The company combines strategy, infrastructure, product development, data processing, and implementation to build market-ready digital systems. Invent Group has assembled a network of multi-disciplinary specialists to support the deployment and scaling of enterprise AI tools.
Malcolm Brechin, co-founder and chief executive, said: “The technology space is noisy right now, especially when it comes to AI. Organisations’ interest in AI is on the rise, which is really exciting, but all too often ideas don’t ever become working capabilities. Meanwhile we see so many people overwhelmed by the hype, and the danger is they remain ‘AI uncomfortable’ when they could take even small steps to completely change how they operate.
“Despite this crowded market I genuinely think we have something different. A place where people can come and develop their ideas with us, pulling, as required, on the power of seven interconnected capability areas – strategy, infrastructure, productisation, data, implementation, efficient scale and go-to-market. Whether clients want to use AI to ‘problem solve’ in their own organisation, or create a completely new product, the ‘invent’ process is high energy yet grounded in decades of business rationale.”
Sam Whisker, co-founder and chief technology officer, added: “For centuries, inventors have conceptualised billions of new ideas, but not all can – or should – reach the market. Prior to establishing its operations at Belmont Business Park, Invent Group developed a portfolio of proprietary software tools, including tender workflow tool Bid King, legal casework platform Vericase, and educational communications system Schools-safe. The company has also partnered with MBA researchers at the University of East London to expand its internal research and testing capabilities.
