Transport for London (TfL) has appointed Plexal, a London-based innovation company, as its Innovation Operation Supplier under a new multi-year partnership. The collaboration aims to equip TfL’s innovation team with essential insights and resources to accelerate the development and adoption of new technologies from start-ups.
Plexal will lead a consortium that includes tech consultancy Sopra Steria in Edinburgh. This consortium will support TfL in several key areas: assessing emerging technologies for their potential impact, scouting innovative solutions to TfL’s operational challenges, conducting trials with start-ups within the TfL environment, and supporting product commercialisation and revenue generation.
Founded by Delancey in 2017, Plexal specialises in facilitating strategic collaboration between government, industry, start-ups, and academia.
Andrew Roughan, CEO of Plexal, commented: “There’s a wealth of new solutions being developed in line with advancing technologies. Having supported the growth of more than 1,200 businesses across public and private sector programmes, we know there’s an incredible amount of rich talent just waiting to be unearthed and look forward to helping TfL access new innovations and overcome challenges, creating an even better experience for its customers and staff.”
