Open source cybersecurity provider Chainguard has announced a £150 million investment across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa to expand regional operations, open a London hub, and create 200 jobs.
The multi-year funding commitment will support the company’s regional expansion, including the opening of a new office at 3 Herbal Hill in Clerkenwell, London. The site currently serves as an operational base for nearly 70 UK-based employees, alongside engineering, sales, and customer success teams.
The creation of 200 new roles across the region forms part of Chainguard’s strategy to address software supply chain vulnerabilities. Modern applications rely heavily on open source code, where dormant flaws can be identified and exploited rapidly by automated tools and advanced artificial intelligence models.
The expansion also comes as businesses face stricter regulatory requirements across Europe, including the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), the Network and Information Security (NIS2) Directive, and the Cyber Resilience Act.
Chainguard reports that its regional operations experienced a 400 per cent increase in annual recurring revenue over the past 12 months, expanding its customer base by 800 per cent. Its regional clients include Siemens, Aleph Alpha, Cato Networks, and container shipping operator Hapag-Lloyd.
Ian Burley, group vice president for EMEA at Chainguard, commented: “Pulling open source straight from public registries is like picking a USB stick up off the pavement and plugging it into your laptop. Maybe you could survive that when finding a flaw took a human engineer months, but you can’t now that a model does it in an afternoon. Some of the best engineering and security teams we work with are in EMEA, and they know prevention is the only option. We’re putting $200 million, a London office, and 200 new roles behind them, so more organisations across EMEA can put an end to AI supply chain attacks.”
