Newcastle tech consultancy secures a place on government framework

Based in Newcastle, a technology consultancy has successfully secured a position within the government’s recently launched framework called Digital and Legacy Application Services (DALAS).

Functioning as a supplier for Lot 2b under this framework, Opencast is set to provide comprehensive assistance to government departments and other entities within the UK public sector. Their support will encompass services related to digital solutions, integration and program applications.

Opencast’s specialised skills will cover a broad spectrum, including user-centric design, efficient software delivery, adept DevOps engineering, advanced platform development and robust DevSecOps implementation.

The primary objective of the DALAS agreement is to facilitate the migration of legacy applications for HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to a fresh, multi-supplier, multi-year framework. This transition will be executed in phases, aiming to enhance agility, mitigate risks, expedite time-to-market, and foster increased competition among suppliers.

It’s anticipated that HMRC’s investment in DALAS will reach up to £2 billion over the course of the next four years.

Opencast chief executive Tom Lawson said: “We’re delighted to have been named as a supplier on the DALAS framework. It’s a major opportunity that recognises the quality of Opencast’s work, the value we deliver for our clients, and the collaborative nature of our approach. We’re excited to be able to continue to support HMRC and other government departments to deliver user-centred, secure and sustainable digital services that have a positive impact on society.

“This will add to the work that Opencast is already doing with government departments – at HMRC, Department for Work and Pensions, Department for Education, Government Digital Service and others – in delivering better digital public services to millions of citizens.”
